ENGLISH: The day will invite in-depth critical interrogation of issues surrounding gender parity in contemporary comics. Our discussions will have an international perspective, with contributions from academics, practitioners and activists. The morning seminar will ask the questions and the afternoon seminar will gather responses. The event will be rounded off with a Laydeez do Comics special, hosting a series of presentations from women comics artists and accompanied by home made cake. This exciting and stimulating one-day programme is free to attend and everyone is welcome! However, places are limited. To ensure your place please book via  Eventbrite

FRENCH: Cette journée permettra d’interroger de manière critique et approfondie les questions entourant la parité entre les sexes dans la bande dessinée contemporaine. Nos discussions auront une perspective internationale, avec des contributions d’universitaires, de praticiens et de militants. Le séminaire du matin posera les questions et le séminaire de l’après-midi rassemblera des réponses. L’événement sera complété par un Laydeez do Comics spécial, accueillant une série de présentations de femmes comics artistes et accompagné de gâteau fait maison. Ce programme d’une journée stimulant et stimulant est gratuit et tout le monde est le bienvenu! Cependant, les places sont limitées. How is scholarship being done via the medium of comics?  Comics can enable scholarship to be disseminated in accessble, reworked form for a wider audience; and can aid in ‘making learning fun’ for younger students or interested amateurs – but how does graphic narrative work as a way of thinking, as a way of data gathering, as a way of organising and enacting the research itself: a tool for scholars?

We will explore this question with speakers from the Applied Comics Network, Graphic Medicine, and in a practical workshop with other comics creators. This exciting event includes lunch and a wine reception and is FREE of charge but places must be booked in advance via EventBrite
